My book is about my Camino.

A journey of the soul, pilgrim meals, blisters, injury, and other, often very odd, occurrences on the Camino de Santiago across Northern Spain, which I hope you find informative, funny, and motivational.

At a push, you could use it to prop up a wobbly table!

So, why do it? Well, it had become mentally and spiritually important for me, so I decided to do it because at the start I was 54 and I wanted to see if I could still do something out of the ordinary, to have an adventure, do something unusual that would test my mental and physical robustness. Could I go on day after day for five weeks? It isn’t crossing the Gobi Desert on a pogo stick or sailing the Pacific in a yogurt pot, or indeed going up Everest, but it would still be an adventure, and perhaps that’s what I craved deep inside.

So, tell us Andrew, what can we expect to read about in your book?

Here’s a run down.

Disclosing that I was once mistaken for Clint Eastwood. It really happened. Honestly! Just look at my picture and the magic happens. Would I lie to you?

Bunk allocation on the basis of grey hair, apocalyptic chickens, feral children, hip Augustinian sisters, an undiscovered Shakespearian work, the migration habits of the 100km pilgrim, pilgrim cheating, and the discovery of a new astronomical measure.

I encountered farting Frenchmen and lard-arse snoring Brits, saw scenes from the film ‘The Way’, drank too much, murdered my old boots, murdered my socks, grew a beard which, oddly enough, did not lead to an alternative career as a stunt double for  Sean Connery, Harrison Ford or Daniel Craig. Although I did rather carry off the Indiana Jones look quite well, I felt.

Had an international Spanish language incident and unintentionally learned some Spanish hand gestures. 😲

Contacting me for readings, presentations and other events.

I do get asked to do live book readings, deliver presentations etc about my Camino adventure and guide and help people prepare for going on Camino.

I am more than happy to do these things free of charge subject to availability and location, so if you would like me to present, do a live reading, book launch or give some advice and guidance, please contact me.
